Tayler’s background and personal life
How did you decide to become a therapist?
My mother was a play therapist. Since I can remember, I admired her work because I believed she was making a positive mark on the world. Beyond that, I thought it was awesome that she was able to make her own schedule and be an involved mother throughout my childhood. I guess you could say I always wanted to be a therapist at some level. The desire grew as I moved through my undergraduate degree. My path was clear and I never looked back.
What was your previous work before going into private practice?
I started my career in emergency services and court-ordered substance abuse treatment. This work laid the foundation for my private practice. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve these populations.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I find so much joy in many things. First and foremost, I cherish my time with family, friends, and my precious dog. My favorite self-care technique is physical activity. I love pushing my body and reminding myself how incredible it is. Whether I am training for a marathon, summiting a 14,000 ft. mountain, lifting weights, or enjoying yoga, I am constantly amazed at what the body can be conditioned to do.

How long do clients typically see you for?
I typically see clients for anywhere from 12-52 sessions. This is dependent on your individual goals.
Do you assign “homework” between sessions?
I like to assign practice more than homework. Amazing things happen in session. But, the real power is being able to translate this to everyday life. Go out in between sessions, try what is discussed, and come back to report what is working and what feels hard!
How do you help ensure I'm making progress in therapy?
I am here to be your biggest cheerleader and an accountability partner. I want to know what goals are coming easy, which ones are difficult, and I want to know about the ones you are avoiding. We will dive into this together and make adjustments as necessary. This way, you will be constantly be aware of your progress and see the strides you are making week over week!
How can I prepare for our first session?
You don't need to bring anything. I do encourage you to think about how you would want life to look at the end of our time together. What would be different? How will you feel? Will you be able to do something that you are not currently doing?
How will I know it’s time to end my time in therapy with you or reduce session frequency?
You will know. You will be consistently seeing the change and progress you were hoping for. You will have the confidence that you can tackle and manage the things that once seemed hard or impossible. Trust the process!
